An Eco-friendly Event
The 2010 Salone del Gusto and Terra Madre have consolidated the planning and design choices made for the last edition and are promoting new scenarios for development, moving towards an event model with a reduced environmental impact.
Through more efficient planning for everything from setting up stands, transport of goods, communication and waste management to water and energy use, exhibitors and visitors are being asked to become the event’s co-organizers, active players in a complex system in which their behavior determines the final reduction of the negative environmental impact of the whole event system.
In 2008, the Salone del Gusto reduced its impact by 45% compared to 2006, and the aim for 2010 is to improve this already impressive result.
This year the initiatives developed by the research organizers, the Industrial Design Department of the Turin Polytechnic and Slow Food, will also involve the collaboration of the University of Gastronomic Sciences.
